The dimensions I most often create within are squares or circles, not only because the particular geometry infuses the work with a sense of wholeness, but also because it is ready made to evolve into album art. Without the need to crop to a square from a rectangular original, it maintains the position throughout its creation of being a more intentional, considered composition from its beginnings, all the way to the ultimate destination, to represent a musical record. I currently have many unclaimed, immediately available square collage works ready-made, just waiting to be snatched up for just that.

I can express visually what an album of music sounds like. I am a devoted and tenacious appreciator of music. The magnetic resonance and friendship I appreciate with musicians has always inspired, informed, and directed the trajectory of both my life and visual artwork. In the past, I have spent years on tour, at festivals with various bands, in buses and camping at music festivals, up and down the west coast. Being on the road allowed me time to explore my own art, to write, plan, and further my enthusiasm for live musical performance. Luckily, I’ve seen and heard countless concerts from the unobstructed view of the side stage. Now, as a parent, I am bound to a more insular lifestyle in Minneapolis, but I am at home within the musical community here. I continue visiting the live music scene frequently, having a particular passion for supporting my local music community. Being in the studio in pursuit of realizing her own ideas in solitude is wonderful, but that alone pales in comparison to also having thrilling opportunities to collaborate with other interesting creators. Making a substantial contribution in a mutually loved project is rewarding in a different way. For me, it is being a part of something greater than ones own self to diligently pursue this direction with my work. Developing the music related aspect of my visual art practice marries my most profound interests in a significant and genuine way. There is much satisfaction to be found in the actualizing of visual representations for albums or concerts across genres. The promise of building amplified, meaningful connections created in this process, and being a contributor to musical projects is equally substantial and natural for me. I have demonstrated consistent devotion to developing where my interests and community intersect my own visual art.
